Abstract week 2

Compost study from abstract study. I take pictures of my compost bin. This is an interpretative painting of one image that I will work on a little bit more onto canvas...more to follow.

Abstract

Abstract class week 1....A rather emotional piece that I got carried away with in class. I called it "throat" for some reason. Anyhow, it's what's happening right now with my work - well in my abstrat class anyways!

Artist Block

So I am going through a block - I don't know what to draw/paint, what style to try out or anything that will work as a series which is the aim...I've been going for landscapes but i still know that portrait themed art is what I love most so I'm thinking of going to back to that for a little while....so here is a little piece I made last week and a manipulated greeny version. They are perhaps a little too fantastical for me but something a little different at least!

Mary-Anne

This is a photo from my phone, will post a more accurate color photo soon. In the mean time I'm about to post another work in progress that's not a portrait, hurrah!!

My work in progress

So I need to be adding to my Hollywood Seniors Collection so figured I would start a rough painting of Mary-Anne. In the end I got carried away and I think this piece will lead to completion soon rather than just being a study like planned, am liking it a lot. I am just not sure what to do with the background and clothing - I almost like it as it is! Here are pictures of it's various stages so far....

 Debating taking out the blue to keep it white/cream instead....hmmm we shall see

Next commission

So I have a new commission to be working on now before the Christmas holidays.

Discovery Tour

So I was part of the Arroyo Arts Collective Art tour (www.arroyoartscollective.org). Even though it rained I had a good steady flow of people and enjoyed the day very much. Only wish I could have snuck out more to see other peoples work and houses! Here is my front door welcoming in disheveled guests from the rain!

Update

It's been a while so thought I would send some updates.

Firstly I finished off a commission which went down very well. Here it is, taken from a very old grainy film that I watched and studied to try and get an idea of their personalities to show in their faces. It turned out quite illustrative, but I kinda like that!
